How much do you know about Detox?

Detoxification is a process where a human body passed to a series of cleansing ritual naturally, mostly through fruits and vegetables and organic products.

It is very essential because we encountered environmental pollution and chemically-infused products everyday. Our surroundings are far more contaminated with toxic compounds than before, so everyone needs to detoxify.

Chronic illnesses such as cancer, heart disease and hypertension are often attributed to bad eating habit, unhealthy lifestyle and constant exposure to harmful chemical substances. In fact, in most cancer patients, only 5% is attributed to genetics.

Reasons why we are very much expose to toxins:
  • Environmental pollution in the city
  • The foods we eat at fast food chains or fancy restaurants contained genetically modified organism.
  • Several products we used (cosmetics, shampoo, lotion, soap) contained pesticides and other harsh chemical substances.
  • Frequent exposure to the sun without protective gear.
  • We rarely find fruits and vegetables in the city that are not exposed to toxins because of the fertilizers and pesticides used.
  • Processed foods like ham, hotdog, sausages, tocino, salami, canned goods, contained carcinogens
  • Frequent eating of meat
  • Alcohol and smoking
  • Poor immune system due to fatigue, overwork and lack of enough rest and sleep.
The right things to do:
  • Undergo cleansing at least once a week, example on Sunday eat only fresh fruits and vegetables and drink plain water without any rice.
  • Protect your skin from the sun by applying sunblock everyday even during cloudy weather (cloudy environment is not a guarantee you will be protected from UVR), or choose lotion and facial powder with SPF of at least 15.
  • Indulge in exercise or brisk walking every morning.
  • Avoid alcoholic beverages and smoking.
  • Remember the Mediterranean diet (Fish and vegetables on top, olive oil, canola oil second and limit your meat and processed foods intake to once every two weeks only)
  • Avoid eating grilled foods as much as possible or do it once every two weeks only.
  • Avoid getting near to people who smoke, second-hand smoke is more dangerous and very fatal.
  • Avoid drinking powdered or concentrated juice varieties in the market, try to make your own juice.
  • Moderate your soft drinks and Coffee intakes. High caffeine irritates the nerves.
  • Eat organic fruits and vegetables
  • Use natural products such as herbal or organic soaps, lotions and shampoos.
  • Get plenty of rest every night, at least 7 hours.
The right foods and drinks to consume:
  • Wheat bread
  • Brown rice
  • Green leafy vegetables
  • Broccoli
  • Green tea
  • Honey
  • Whole grain cereals
  • Fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Wheat grass
  • Barley
  • Add apple cider vinegar to your diet
  • Use Olive oil or Canola oil only
  • Virgin coconut oil is more ideal and healthy than palm oil and animal fats
Take good care of your Liver

Our liver is the one that processes the toxins out of the body, if our liver is in poor condition then toxins would not be properly eliminated. That's why eating unhealthy foods, smoking and drinking alcohol and too much caffeinated drinks can harm the liver. Overeating and poor immune system place an additional burden to our liver.

Important functions of Liver:
  • Processes, digests and absorbs proteins, sugar, fats.
  • Supplies nutrients to our body.
  • Makes bile to break up fats.
  • Removes excess hormones
  • Cleanses toxins
So now, you have a good reason to take care of your liver and watch out your lifestyle and eating habit.
